Book Page reviews Love After War

Image
This morning, I logged on to Twitter and got my happy dance on when I saw a tweet from @BookPage. This monthly book review publication out of Nashville reviewed Love After War. Here's what they said: HOT HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS In a world of wealth and glamour, former lovers reunite in  Love After War  by Cheris Hodges. Two years after Dana Singleton’s boyfriend declared that things were over, she finds herself back in Los Angeles and face-to-face with Adrian Bryant—the very guy who broke her heart. A celebrity photographer based in New York City, Dana is on assignment on the West Coast to take publicity shots for a film studio. Running into her old flame wasn’t on her agenda, but there he is, a successful nightclub owner, still as handsome as ever. With one look at Dana, Adrian realizes his mistake. He immediately knows he wants her back, even though wooing the woman he still loves is a distraction from the goal he’s been pursuing since their breakup—revenge on the man he’s learned ...

This girl right here is not living for the weekends, but living for Tuesday, Nov. 5, the official release date of Love After War . I hope you will support my latest book. The story of Adrian Bryant and Dana Singleton was a great one to write. I had so much fun digging into the love story between these two. And can I tell you how close I am to getting a motorcycle. You'll understand when you read the book.  I need you, dear readers, to stop me from signing up for Harley Davidson of Charlotte's rider's edge class. Y'all know if I get a motorcycle, it's going to be a hot time in the city. I think I'll just get a motorcycle jacket and matching boots. After all, you can't drink Starbucks and cruise the highway. :)  This is my tenth year as a published author. I can't even believe I just typed that. I want to thank everyone who has ever picked up a Cheris Hodges book. I hope I can count on you to pick up Love After War  this Tuesday.  First week sales are crit...

The story behind Love After War. . . . Most of my brilliant ideas start at a corner table in Starbucks. While sipping on a grande Italian Roast, I thought what would happen if the lights went out and I was stuck in here with the last person I wanted to see. Suppose it was an old rival from high school. Would I toss my coffee in her face? Heck no! Cheris Hodges does not waste coffee! High school rivalries are old hat, I told myself as I took a sip. What if I was trapped in Starbucks with an ex? I took to my iPad and started sketching ideas. The first thing I thought was, let's move this story to Los Angeles. California is known for rolling brown outs and Starbucks. I had to remove myself from this story because I write romance, not revenge killing tomes. A character from Too Hot For TV popped into my mind, Dana, Imani's photographer best friend. Fitting because one of my best friends is a photographer. And when I found out that Dana didn't have a last name -- I ga...

Love After War teaser

Love After War preview : The last thing Dana Singleton ever wanted was to find herself alone with the man who’d broken her heart two years ago. She’d put three thousand miles between them twenty-four months ago only to find that the moment she returned to Los Angeles, she was trapped with him in the middle of a brownout. Adrian Bryant.   God , she thought, why do you hate me?             “This is insane,” Adrian said, then looked over at Dana. And a slow smile spread across his face when he recognized her. “Long time no see.” When he reached out to embrace her, Dana pushed back.             “Don’t you dare touch me,” she said. “How dare you even look at me or expect me to be thrilled to see you?”             “Don’t act like that,” he said, offering her a sizzling smile. In the near darkness of the ...

I'll admit it, reviews make me nervous.
