Grits as a weapon

Before a woman decides to grab a gun and end up on an episode of Snapped or Deadly Women, there's one thing you can do to calm the drama in your relationship. First, place a pot on the stove and boil some water. Next, drop in two cups of grits and let it simmer. Finally, put on some Al Greene. Problem solved and no charges filed. The end. I dedicate this post to Mrs. Herman Cain. I stand with you, sister.

Marvin Gaye's Here My Dear, the soundtrack of pain

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of old school and old school sounding artists. And by old school sounding artists, I mean people who can sing. Shout out to Lalah Hathaway ! If you don't have her new release, Where It All Begins , you're missing out! So, I'm sitting here trying to write this scene about a family in crisis and iTunes begins to play Marvin Gaye's When Did You Stop Loving Me from the Here, My Dear album. When many of us think of Marvin, we immediately go to the sexy tunes, Sexual Healing and Let's Get It On (yeah, I was listening to Marvin when I came up with that title), but on HMD, Marvin was mad as hell. You’re going to be punished.”             “With all of your contacts in Charlotte, this is the best you can do? This isn’t just about me, Dad. I told you that I wasn’t driving, Hailey was and I wanted to keep her out of trouble. I thought you could make this disappear.”             Richard glared at his daughter, “Marie, what you did was dangerous and you do need to face that. Even if you allowed your intern to drive you, she was inexperienced and didn’t h

His star rose, but their love faded. . . Jason Campbell, known to his adoring fans as Jay Slade, has had enough of the spotlight. When he returns home to Elmore, South Carolina, he has one thing on his mind: winning back the love of his life, Ingrid Russell. But Ingrid isn't ready to take him back. She's a widow with a restaurant to run and son to raise. There's no way she's going to let Jason back into her life. Especially when she has a secret that she's determined to keep from him. And the same women who tore their relationship apart three years ago are still there. But would Jason be in the small home town he hates if it isn't for Ingrid's love? Writing this book allowed me to play around with the things that we love and hate about small towns. Gossip, closed minded people, nosy folks, people who have your back, people who would stab you in the back and good folks who always tell it like it is. The cast of characters in If It Isn't Love
